Meghalaya, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh

Northeast India Tour Operator

Himalayan Luxury Tours plans Northeast India holidays from North Bengal, covering Meghalaya's living root bridges, Kaziranga's grasslands and Arunachal's mountain roads, with permits explained.

Northeast India from our base

We are close to the gateway to the Northeast. Guests usually fly into Guwahati (GAU) from Bagdogra or other cities, and we plan the rest by road. This region rewards slow travel: long drives, forests, rivers and tribal cultures.

What we plan

  • Meghalaya: Shillong, Sohra (Cherrapunji), Dawki and living root bridges, with Guwahati to Shillong around three to three and a half hours by road.
  • Assam: Guwahati, Kamakhya temple and Kaziranga National Park, with safaris subject to park rules and season.
  • Arunachal Pradesh: Bomdila, Dirang and Tawang by road, with permits and weather as key factors.

Permits and conditions

Indian nationals from outside Arunachal need an Inner Line Permit, which can be applied for online. Foreign nationals need a Protected Area Permit and travel with a registered operator. Rules change, so please check current requirements. Wildlife sightings, river cruises and road conditions depend on season and weather. See our Meghalaya travel guide and Arunachal permits guide.
