Overview
This itinerary spends two nights in Shillong, two in Sohra and one near Mawlynnong or Dawki, leaving time for the double-decker root bridge walk and a slower, less rushed look at the south of the state.
It suits people who enjoy walking and are comfortable with long staircases and wet trails. If the weather is poor, we can replace the trek with easier excursions around Sohra.
- Duration
- 6 Nights / 7 Days

Practical considerations
Fitness
The Nongriat walk involves a few thousand steps each way. It should not be attempted without reasonable fitness or in unsafe weather.
Monsoon
Heavy rain can make trails slippery and close caves. We recommend October to April for this itinerary.
Stays
Accommodation near the river is basic but atmospheric.
Packing
Bring shoes with grip, a rain jacket and a small daypack.
