Suits: Short breaks and first-time visitors who prefer a single base.
Sikkim · 4 Nights / 5 Days
A compact introduction to Sikkim built around Gangtok, Rumtek Monastery and the high road to Tsomgo Lake.
This journey keeps travel simple. After the drive from Bagdogra, you base yourself in Gangtok and explore East Sikkim in day trips, which means one hotel, less packing and a gradual rise in altitude.
It suits first-time visitors, families and anyone with limited time who wants monasteries, viewpoints and mountain scenery without long daily drives.

Meet your driver at Bagdogra airport or New Jalpaiguri station and drive to Gangtok, roughly four to five hours depending on traffic and road work. Check in, rest and, if you feel like it, stroll along MG Marg in the evening.
Drive up to Tsomgo (Changu) Lake, a glacial lake at about 3,700 metres, with stops for viewpoints on the way (permit required, arranged in advance). Nathu La can be added on permitted days if conditions allow. Return to Gangtok in the afternoon.
Visit Rumtek Monastery in the morning, then Enchey Monastery and Do Drul Chorten. Spend the afternoon at the Namgyal Institute of Tibetology or the local flower exhibition, depending on season.
A flexible day for the viewpoints at Ganesh Tok, Hanuman Tok and Tashi Viewpoint, a visit to a local cafe or craft shop, or simply a slow day. Ask us about optional experiences such as a local food walk.
Drive back to Bagdogra or New Jalpaiguri for your onward journey. Allow five to six hours, and avoid booking flights or trains too tight to the arrival time.
Indian visitors need a Protected Area Permit for Tsomgo Lake and Nathu La, arranged through us with photo ID. Foreign nationals need a Restricted Area Permit for Sikkim. Check current requirements.
Tsomgo Lake is at roughly 3,700 metres. Go slowly, drink water and tell your guide if you feel unwell.
Roads can be affected by landslides in the monsoon. Nathu La visits depend on weather and conditions.
The Bagdogra to Gangtok drive is long. Arrive early in the day where possible.
This is a sample itinerary, not a fixed departure. Sequence, stays and activities are confirmed when we plan your journey, subject to availability, season, permits and local conditions.
