Overview
Kolkata is the gateway to the Sundarbans, the mangrove delta shared by India and Bangladesh. The delta is remote and its boat and permit systems are strict, so we treat this as a flexible add-on. Wildlife sightings, including tigers, are rare and never guaranteed.
The Sundarbans portion runs by tide and permit, and long transfers are needed. If you only want the city, see the three-night plan.

- Kolkata > Sundarbans edge > Kolkata
- Suits

Practical considerations
Conditions
Opening days, hours and entry rules at museums, temples and palaces vary and can change; some close one day a week. Festival periods and the monsoon can change timings. Check current rules.
Permits
Sundarbans entry needs forest permits; check current rules.
Wildlife
Tigers are rarely seen; do not expect sightings.
Season
October to February is best; the monsoon and cyclone season can disrupt boats.
