Kolkata Heritage Weekend: 2 Nights / 3 Days

A short city break: Victoria Memorial, the old colonial quarter, the Hooghly river and a food-led evening, ideal before or after the hills.

Overview

Kolkata works well as a first or last stop on a Himalayan trip, or as a short city break of its own. Two nights give you the main landmarks, a river and heritage-walk morning and plenty of food.

It pairs naturally with the hills. See Kolkata with Darjeeling for a combined plan, and our Kolkata heritage walks.

Practical considerations

Conditions

Opening days, hours and entry rules at museums, temples and palaces vary and can change; some close one day a week. Festival periods and the monsoon can change timings. Check current rules.

Season

October to February is the most comfortable; summer is hot and humid.

Getting around

Traffic is heavy; metro and taxis help, and our guide plans timings accordingly.

Food

We recommend eating at busy, hygienic places and carrying bottled water.

This is a sample itinerary, not a fixed departure. Sequence, stays and activities are confirmed when we plan your journey, subject to availability, season, permits and local conditions.
